Ignite Speeches are 5-minute evocative speeches at mathematics education conferences that follow a specific format: 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide. Arjan has presented at Ignite events on various occasions.

Arjan shares his experiences with Teachers2Teachers Global on the Galapagos Islands. He had the opportunity to work with 65 educators in Ecuador and shares stories about specific classroom visits that exposed the beauty of leading educational practices.

Speaking and singing at a holiday-season mathematics conference with hundreds of people in a large, historic room, Arjan explains the mathematical basis of gospel music. He analyzes the physics of major and minor chords and explains how we are all affected by the connection between math and music.

This speech encourages educators to lean on each other by making their practice more visible and sharing peer coaching with one another. Arjan shares his experiences with a basketball coach and a singing coach, taking what he learned and applying it to education.
